Sure, everyone wants to be Derek Jeter, Bryce Harper, Mike Trout, but who were they when they grew up? Themselves.

Greatness is in every one of us. It’s how you present yourself, how you work, train, and carry yourself on the field that makes you a terrific ballplayer. Don’t try to be something you’re not… BE YOU!

Set a goal out there. Practice every day. Try and accomplish that goal. Don’t try to be perfect. Try to be good. Over time, gain confidence and try to be great! And then… once you’re over that hump… find another stepping stone, and go try to master that one too.

Believe. It’s an important part of a ballplayers psyche. You need to believe in yourself and your abilities and what you can gain from being a respectful, hardworking ballplayer. But I have to tell you, it’s hard. You need to be mental tough. You will be challenged… you will be exhausted some days… but if you want to be a great player… you need to continue to work.

Yes, there are role models out there. Players like Derek Jeter, Bryce Harper, Mike Trout are solid role models… but learn to play with their courage and their talent. They are guides and you can build by learning from them, not BEING them.

Set the tone for yourself. Grow with GUIDANCE from the baseball greats… but develop into your own great ballplayer. You have it in you… now go achieve it.
